If you have been carefully paying attention to our twitter account, you probably already know the news. We've officially changed our name from Waste Management Dive to Waste Dive.
When you start a new company, you are bound to make mistakes along the way. We made one with our name.
We picked our original name because we wanted something that clearly and directly articulated the focus of our products. A few problems, however, have become readily apparent:
a) The name was simply unwieldy. It's a mouthful to say. More importantly, we are building this company with a focus on mobile products. Typing Waste Management Dive into a mobile browser is simply not fun.
b) Rather than being clear, the name was causing confusion. Waste Management is obviously a giant in our industry. We aren't affiliated with the company in any capacity but our original name led people to believe that we were.
As a result, we've officially become Waste Dive. Our products and focus won't change. We remain committed to bringing you the most important news, tweets, data, and intelligence from the solid waste and recycling industry. Waste Dive remains your job...on your phone.
As always, I welcome your feedback.
Best,
Sean Griffey
