- The Carton Council of North America, a group of manufacturers working together to divert cartons from landfills, announced the creation of a conglomerate of companies focused on improving carton recycling.
- The new group, known as the Carton Recycling Champions, includes Dean Foods, Boxed Water Is Better, Fat Tuesday, GoodBelly, Leahy-IFP, Pacific Foods, The ReWall Co, Turner Dairy Farms, and WhiteWave Foods.
- Group members will make it a goal to increase awareness of recycling, including the recyclability of cartons. Each company commits to support and promote carton recycling and will collaborate with the Carton Council to determine more ways the group can make an impact.

Carla Fantoni, who oversees communications for the Carton Council, said, “Companies and brands are an important link to consumers, so we created the Carton Recycling Champion program as a way to directly engage companies who share our interests.”
Figures from the Carton Council of North America illustrate that carton recycling is gaining momentum. Carton recycling is available to 50% of the households across the U.S. and grew an estimated 177% within the past five years, mostly due to efforts within the carton industry and private-public partnerships.
