Dive Insight:
The company said it is in compliance with all regulations across the state and offers OSHA-compliant site inspections. Daniel Fernandez, head of Medical Waste's business development, said, “With more government regulations on medical waste disposal in place than ever, the importance of proper waste removal can’t be understated.”
Waste Management, currently the largest hauler and recycler in the U.S., once processed medical waste for the healthcare industry. In June 2013, the company announced it would no longer offer this service and was seeking buyers for up to eight processing plants it owned throughout the country. This waste sector was putting a burden on Waste Management’s capital, and the company said it will focus on oil and gas field waste services, instead.
