- Novelis Inc., an industrial aluminum manufacturer headquartered in Atlanta, announced the opening of its newest recycling plant in Nachterstedt, Germany.
- The $258 million recycling plant will process aluminum scrap collected throughout Europe.
- The company expects the facility will be capable of producing 400,000 tons of aluminum scrap on an annual basis. Novelis anticipates the plant will hit full production in January 2015.

Materials able to be recycled at the facility include industrial waste, aluminum drink cans, cables and wires.
The company expects to source scrap from Germany, Spain, France, Scandinavia, France, Italy, and “just about everywhere in Europe…” according to Phil Martens, the president and chief executive of Novelis.
Martens described the European demand of aluminum as “stable” but noted that the outlook would be dependent on whether the German economy continues to expand.
