The NW&RA was founded in 1962 in Chicago, IL, then relocated to Washington, D.C. four years later. The same year, 1968, saw the group hire its first full time staff members - all three of them. The group now represents 813 members with ties to the waste and recycling industry, including private haulers, manufacturers, and service providers.
