Dive Brief:
- The National Waste & Recycling Association (NW&RA) has named Tiffany Jones as the association’s new director of certification.
- In the new role, Jones will continue the development of current certification efforts and will be dedicated to implementing more certifications in the future.
- Sharon Kneiss, the president and CEO of the NW&RA, said, “This moves us forward as an association. The certification process she (Jones) is spearheading should help us establish a leadership position in promoting safety and providing quality education for key aspects of industry performance.”
Dive Insight:
The NW&RA launched its first certification program in June. The Certified Safe Drivers program was created to address a growing demand by companies for certified drivers in the waste and recycling industries.
The association anticipates introducing more certification programs at some point; programs could potentially include certification for front-line supervisors, material recovery facilities, or industry-specific processes such as recycling.
