Dive Brief:
- Oracle and the Reverse Logistics Sustainability Council -- a trade organization comprised of 88 corporations -- announced that the groups have joined the R2 Recycling Leader program.
- The program is operated under Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (SERI). SERI provides sustainable e-waste and recycling solutions to companies and supports emerging economies and the recycling challenges they face.
- Oracle has also established take-back and customer support programs in every region where it operates.
Dive Insight:
Participants in the program commit to supporting sustainable electronics recycling and consider R2 certification when partnering with a recycler. R2 standards were created by various entities including the EPA, electronics manufacturers, recycling companies, and non-profits.
The companies are part of a growing number of organizations involved with the R2 Recycling Leader program. In August, Recycle Across America (RAA) joined the group that already included Sony America, Microsoft, Xerox, and Keep America Beautiful.
