- Sims Recycling Solutions, an international electronics recycler headquartered in Chicago, IL, said that the company has obliterated 100,000 hard drives since launching its on-site hard-drive recycling service in 2013.
- Sims added two more shredding trucks to its holdings since last year. The vehicles are capable of shredding data, allowing clients to view the destruction first-hand.
- The company recycles and processes the hard drives at a nearby secondary facility.

Sims said its advantages for customers are two-fold: convenience and security. The on-location truck arrives at the client's site, while the customer can witness the secure shredding of information stored on the drives for themselves.
Sims began offering data shredding services in August, 2013. The company said it has the capability to destroy 1,200 computer hard drives per day.
