BOULDER, Colo. —Eco-Products President Ian Jacobson has joined nonprofit Eco-Cycle’s volunteer board of directors. Both Boulder-based organizations are well known locally and nationally, with Eco-Products focused on compostable foodservice packaging and its role in waste diversion for foodservice operations, and Eco-Cycle focused more broadly on all aspects of Zero Waste and sustainability.
“We are thrilled to have Ian join our board,” said Suzanne Jones, Eco-Cycle’s executive director. “Ian brings sharp business acumen, sustainability expertise, and a lot of experience with transforming the marketplace to increase the percentage of disposable food and beverage containers that are compostable.”
With a professional and personal commitment to Zero Waste initiatives, Jacobson brings a broad perspective on national and regional initiatives around waste diversion to Eco-Cycle’s board from both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining Eco-Products, a certified B corporation, Jacobson was responsible for growth equity investments in the natural and organics segment for Winona Capital Management in Chicago, following an early career in transactional finance and investment banking in Seattle. He currently lives in Boulder with his wife and three children.
“Eco-Cycle is a powerhouse of ideas and action when it comes Zero Waste, and I’m honored and excited to join its board of directors,” Jacobson said. “I look forward to sharing my professional perspective and my personal enthusiasm for Zero Waste with the Eco-Cycle team.

Eco-Cycle is a nonprofit, mission-based social enterprise based in Boulder. As one of the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit recyclers, Eco-Cycle has been a Zero Waste pioneer since the organization started curbside recycling in the City of Boulder back in 1976.
In addition to running a local commercial hauling service for recyclable and compostable materials, Eco-Cycle operates both the Boulder County Recycling Center (since 2001) and the Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials, (CHaRM). These business activities provide essential funding for Eco-Cycle’s award-winning schools programs as well as its public education, outreach, and advocacy activities in Boulder County, including U-Fix-It repair clinics, a free Recycling Hotline, an online A-Z Recycling Guide, Zero Waste events, Eco-Cycle Guides, and dozens of guidelines to help residents live a Zero Waste lifestyle.
