NYCxReuse, organized by the NYC Department of Sanitation’s donateNYC program, is New York City’s first all-reuse event. The event will highlight the many ways in which the City is shaped by materials reuse through a series of panels, an innovative reuse expo, a networking event, and a reuse community fest.

Day one of NYCxReuse is a full-day public conference beginning with four headline panels covering important themes in reuse. Following the panels, doors will open to the Innovative Reuse Expo, featuring hands-on demos, samples, and activations of reuse from all over the city and across industries. The day will conclude with a networking reception where attendees, exhibitors, and presenters can connect and converse.

The second day of the conference brings reuse to life through the NYCxReuse Community Fest, a half-day showcase of the nonprofit reuse sector in NYC, featuring 30 donateNYC Partner organizations who will be accepting donations, selling secondhand items, organizing demonstrations, and leading reuse-oriented activities. Highlights include a book swap from GrowNYC Stop ‘N’ Swap, a styling workshop and pop-up boutique from Housing Works, and an upcycled pet toy demo and dog adoption area from NYC Animal Care Centers.

This year’s programmatic tracks are:

  • Food rescue and donation
  • Reuse in textiles and fashion
  • Donation-based partnerships
  • Reuse and the future
