Waste management company, Shanks (LSE:SKS) has submitted a planning application to develop a 90,000 tpa biogas facility to handle 90,000 tonnes per year of food waste in South Wales.
The company said that it made the application for the Anaerobic Digestion (AD) to Torfaen County Borough Council for the plant that will handle food waste collected from local households and businesses. The planned AD plant at the company's New Inn location, near Pontypool site would produce enough energy to power at least 4000 homes, according to the company.
