Dive Brief:

• A newly implemented manufacturer take-back program at the Buckman Road Recycling and Transfer Station in New Mexico has prompted a recycling contractor in Santa Fe to accept e-waste it was not able to accept before.
• The law in New Mexico does not require electronics manufacturers to pay the additional costs associated with recycling TVs; however, Natural Evolutions, the recycling company for the transfer station, convinced an anonymous manufacturer to absorb the extra costs for the state.

Dive Insight:

Fees for residents to recycle have decreased to around 55 cents for 20 pounds, as compared to $10 to $20 for four pounds of electronics charged prior to the program.
