Dive Brief:

• Ben Wietsman of Albany LLC received approval to lease more land in the Port of Albany. 
• The Albany Port District Commission voted to lease 12 acres to the scrap metal processing company.
• The additional land will be used to expand the company's current operations, which include an 18 acre scrap yard and port facility. The expansion will also make room for a new shredder, in addition to a full downstream and eddy current system. 

Dive Insight:

Upstate Shredding signed a 15-year lease with the Port of Albany in 2012. It continues to add to its assets by acquiring scrap yards and recycling companies across a growing number of states.
