Dive Brief:
- Dave Hakkens, a Dutch inventor, designed a series of recycling devices called Precious Plastic that can transform used plastics into new products designed by consumers.
- The machines could convert consumers into the "recycling plant and the manufacturer" by eliminating the need to rely on professional companies for those services.
- The machines created for this project include an extrusion machine, rotational machines and plastic injection machine. A shredder is reportedly still in the works at this time.
Dive Insight:
The blueprints for the machines are open source, and available for people to download. The instructions don't cost anything to access.
