Dive Brief:

• The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has announced the addition of nine hazardous waste sites to its National Priorities List (NPL) of Superfund sites.
• ​The EPA is also proposing the inclusion of an additional eight sites to the list.

List of sites added to the NPL:

1. Beck's Lake, South Bend, Indiana
2. Keystone Corridor Ground Water Contamination, Indianapolis, Indiana
3. Garden City Ground Water Plume, Garden City, Indiana
4. Cristex Drum, Oxford, North Carolina
5. Hemphill Road TCE, Gastonia, North Carolina
6. Collins & Alkman Plant, Farmington, New Hampshire
7. Jackpile-Paguate Uranium Mine, Laguna Pueblo, New Mexico
8. Wilcox Oil Company, Bristow, Oklahoma
9. Makah Reservatio Warmhouse Beach Dump, Neah Bay, Washington

Sites included on the NPL will receive attention from the EPA, who will identify and hold financially liable those parties responsible for the contamination, as it works to clean up hazardous waste sites across the U.S. in order to protect the environment and protect health risks.
