• Lowell, Massachusetts is facing opposition from the community regarding the location of a new "Resource Recovery Center."
• As part of a contract with its provider, Waste Management, the site was going to serve as the community's bulk drop-off service and recycling collection area. A shed and nine large trash containers were going to be set up, in addition to one receptacle for single-stream recycling.
• Opponents include those living in a condo who did not want the center located downtown and public officials who referenced wetlands regulations. The city has abandoned all plans for previous sites and is now seeking input from the community.
