• The General Manager of the facility called 911 after two men brought stolen property worth thousands to the recycler; they were arrested on site.

• The manager of the recycling center was made aware of the stolen property from a phone call he received from the owner of a local towing company, who had called with a list of missing items only twenty minutes prior to the materials showing up at the facility.

The two thieves were arraigned on fifth-degree felony receiving stolen property charges. Police often collaborate with recycling facilities in the area. Waste industry employees, from sanitation workers to recycling center operators have been instrumental in helping police with criminal activity. Due to a shortage of officers in Antioch, California, police asked sanitation drivers who see suspicious behavior to contact the authorities.
