Rhode Island officials are celebrating a new recycling center that will allow residents to place more recyclables in a curbside recycling bin without sorting first.
Gov. Lincoln Chafee (CHAY'-fee) and other state leaders will cut the ribbon on the new $16.9 million recycling center Wednesday in Johnston.
While the single stream facility will now allow residents to recycle without sorting, it is also expanding the materials that can be recycled. Previously, on No. #1 and No. 2 plastics were recycled. Now, nearly all items can be handled by the facility.
