Dive Insight:
In 2005, the closed plant was the first fully renewable biodiesel manufacturing plant in the nation. When it closed unexpectedly in 2008, the city sued the company handling operations for breach of contract. The city has been replacing some of its fleet with natural gas-powered trucks since that time.
