Dive Brief:

• Sonoco Recycling has acquired Reparco USA, an export trading company based in Pasadena, California, whose focus is on logistics and the sale of recovered paper into markets overseas. 

• The purchase is in alignment with Sonoco's global recycling and trade pursuits.  

• Sonoco is the fourth largest paper recycler in the United States, according to a list compiled by Recycling Today.

Dive Insight:

According to Recycling Today, Ray Howard, the general manager of Sonoco Recycling, said "With more than 3.5 million tons of annual recovered paper collections and 40 recycling facilities… gaining this export capability is an important part of our growth strategy." 

Sonoco recently announced a partnership with Charleston County, South Carolina, in a deal that positions the company to process most of the county's recycling.
