- The St. Paul City Council passed three ordinances designed to help expand recycling rates at community events. It will also the county to collect organic waste at landfill sites within city borders.
- Festivals and related events must now provide collection and disposal of recyclables in a separate receptacle from other trash. Similar rules apply to parades, races and assemblies, which are covered in an additional ordinance.
- The other ordinance contained source-separated organics. This will allow municipal sites to accept food waste and non-recyclable paper materials, like egg cartons and paper towel rolls.
