After making an ‘outstanding contribution’ to the success of the firm, Mr Hellings will step down from full time commitment at the end of September 2012, the company announced today. He will then retire from Viridor and its subsidiary boards.
Under Mr Hellings’ leadership, Viridor has grown its turnover from £30 million in 1994 to well over £700 million today, with profits growing at a compound rate of 20% per annum between 2001 and 2011.
His departure coincides with Viridor’s relocation to its new head office development in Taunton. Mr Hellings will continue thereafter to serve on Viridor’s joint venture boards, including Viridor Laing (Greater Manchester) Limited, INEOS Runcorn (TPS) Limited and Lakeside Energy from Waste Limited.
