Council Member John Patrick remarked that he personally would save $8 per month compared to current rates
From the article:
Members of Derry Council said they were pleased with bids they opened on Monday for collection of borough residents’ household garbage and recyclable materials.
Borough officials had hoped they could obtain lower rates for residents by contracting with a single refuse hauler rather than relying on the system whereby individuals sign on with any of several haulers operating in the area.
The bids received from three haulers — Interstate of Somerset, Allied Waste of Scottdale and Waste Management, with an office in Greensburg — seemed to fulfill that hope.
