The plant will accept everything from newspapers, aluminum foil, cans and cardboard, to paper, certain plastics and containers labeled Nos. 1 to 7. Partial funding for the facility was provided by the State of Colorado's Department of Public Health and Environment Resources Economic Opportunity Fund Grant Program. Waste management processes almost 15 million tons of recyclables annually, in the plants it operates around the U.S. The company is looking to triple that volume by 2020.
