Temu has signed an agreement with ERP Italia Consortium, part of the European Recycling Platform, to support sellers in meeting Italy’s extended producer responsibility (EPR) requirements for electrical and electronic equipment and batteries.
Through the collaboration, Temu aims to give sellers a clearer pathway to manage key EPR obligations for relevant products placed on the Italian market, including reporting and environmental contribution requirements as required by the law. The collaboration also aims tosupport stronger product traceability and closer coordination with Italy’s local collection, recycling and treatment systems.
The collaboration with ERP Italia Consortium will help to:
- Provide Temu sellers with clearer guidance on EPR compliance requirements for electrical and electronic equipment and batteries in Italy;
- Support sellers in navigating reporting and environmental contribution obligations;
- Improve traceability for relevant products sold through digital platforms;
- Create a more structured coordination process between Temu, sellers and an experienced EPR compliance consortium;
- Support Italy’s local collection, recycling and treatment systems for electrical and electronic equipment and batteries.
The collaboration also supports the objectives of Italy’s EPR rules, including Article 178-quater of Legislative Decree 152/2006, by helping improve traceability for relevant products placed on the market through digital platforms.
Alberto Canni Ferrari, Special Attorney of ERP Italia Consortium, said: “The agreement signed with Temu is aimed to implement the art. 178/quarter, simplifying the management of environmental obligations for sellers operating through marketplaces. Within this context, Temu’s joining the ERP Italia Consortium represents a further step towards strengthening traceability and ensuring proper oversight of products placed on the market.”
The ERP Italia Consortium, part of the Landbell Group, has extensive experience in the management of WEEE and battery compliance systems. Through the involvement of digital marketplaces, the Consortium contributes to strengthening traceability, supporting broader participation in the EPR system and reinforcing the sustainability of the circular economy framework.
“The collaboration with ERP Italia represents an important step for Temu in strengthening traceability and contributing to a more transparent e-commerce ecosystem in Italy,” said a Temu spokesperson. “Our goal is to provide practical guidance and resources that help our sellers fulfill their environmental responsibilities efficiently.”
The cooperation is part of Temu’s broader commitment to the European Union’s environmental policy framework. To date, the company has established partnerships with more than 50 licensed producer responsibility organizations, covering categories such as packaging, batteries, and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
