Temu works with Recser to support seller’s battery producer responsibility in Finland

Temu has entered into a cooperation agreement with Recser Oy, the Finnish battery producer responsibility organization (PRO). The agreement supports sellers operating on Temu in meeting Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements for batteries in Finland.

The cooperation with Recser is built around a “pay-on-behalf” model that helps sellers on Temu manage key battery producer responsibility obligations in Finland. Through this model, Temu facilitates seller registration, battery declarations, and producer responsibility fee payments for participating sellers, giving them a more efficient way to meet applicable requirements under Finland’s producer responsibility framework. 

In Finland, battery producer responsibility is managed through approved PROs that support the collection, treatment, and recycling of batteries after use. By working with Recser, Temu is helping participating sellers connect their registration, declaration, and fee payment processes with Finland’s established battery producer responsibility system.

The cooperation forms part of Temu’s broader commitment to complying with European Union environmental legislation. To date, Temu has partnered with more than 60 approved PROs across product categories such as packaging, batteries, and waste electrical and electronic equipment, and textiles.
