- BioHiTech Global has launched a new communication technology called BioHiTech Alto which can increase productivity for the company's Eco-Safe digesters and other equipment, according to a press statement.
- The software will provide real-time information on unit performance, processing statistics and maintenance routines through a secured connection on all standard devices. This can also be used on other internet-enabled industrial equipment.
- The Alto technology links to the BioHiTech Cloud waste analytics platform, with support for text and chat communication. In the future it will also link with the company's mobile analytics app Cirrus and the messaging platform Slack.
BioHiTech's Eco-Safe digesters have seen success among a wide range of commercial organics processing options and this further expands their capabilities. The units can digest up to 2,500 pounds of material per day with a proprietary bacteria formula and are used by companies such as Dunkin' Donuts in select locations.
The company has been a big proponent of the role data can play in reaching zero waste goals and this is part of a growing movement to make systems more efficient in the waste industry. Venture capital funding for recycling technologies that focus on software and data analytics is on the rise, especially at a time when better tracking is seen as a key step to reducing food waste.
BioHiTech Global has also been active in exploring new processing technologies such as mechanical biological treatment. A new facility is under construction in West Virginia by their subsidiary Entsorga North America and further expansion is planned in the coming years.
