Dive Insight:
Karrie Gibson, the president of Vintage Tech, said, “In 2014, Vintage Tech collected and recycled more than 110 million pounds of electronics in the U.S. marketplace, and Kuusakoski will continue to grow that volume and maximize the value of the materials while following all compliance under state legislation and certifications.”
Both companies are headquartered in Plainfleld, IL. The two firms will be operated separately using a shared executive team, with the previous founders keeping their roles until the transition is complete.
Rich Hipp, CEO and president of Kuusakoski USA, said, “With the acquisition of Vintage Tech we will now become a coast-to-coast service company with front end collection networks and fully integrated customer service and operations that will provide that true one-stop-shop service to our customers.”
Kuusakoski uses a technology that stabilizes the lead in CRT, making it an option for alternative daily cover (ADC) at landfills. CRTs are generally used in the displays of computers and televisions.
