Dive Brief:
- The Environmental Industry Associations (EIA) and its sub-associations, the National Solid Waste Management Association (NSWMA) and the Waste Equipment Technology Association (WASTEC), will now collectively be known as the National Waste & Recycling Association.
- The new name will consolidate the waste and recycling industry's largest association into a single organization when the change officially occurs on December 2.
- The former Environmental Industry Associations also released a new logo and tagline: "Collect. Recycle. Innovate."
Dive Insight:
The association represents almost 800 companies in the U.S. waste and recycling industry. The rebranding is a step toward making the association viable and modern and is part of its ongoing effort to promote the industry to members, government officials, the media and community, according to Sharon Kneiss, the president and CEO of The National Waste & Recycling Association. The introduction of the new logo is meant to highlight the industry's involvement in waste and recycling, composting and recycling, including the creation of energy from waste.
