- This week, NWRA named Kevin J. Kraushaar vice president for government affairs, chapter operations, and general counsel. Kraushaar will be responsible for the coordination of all NWRA advocacy and legislative efforts at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Kraushaar has spend more than 25 years working in legislative affairs and advocacy. At the firm J. Warren Strategies, where he was a principal, he advised associations and corporations on legislative initiatives.
- "Kevin brings a depth and breadth of experience to NWRA as we engage at the state and federal levels on a multitude of issues we face as an industry," said Sharon H. Kneiss, president and chief executive officer of NWRA.
The waste industry is coming face-to-face with an increasing number of legislative initiatives making the waste and recycling agenda more important to the industry. Kraushaar's experience should align well with the association's efforts on the federal, state and local levels.
"NWRA is a dynamic, member-driven organization that is unique in that we touch virtually every home and business in America,” commented Kevin Kraushaar. "We will be expanding our advocacy efforts both on Capitol Hill and with a number of federal agencies, and we will continue to build on the legislative and policy successes led by our chapters at state and local governments across the country."
