• The Department of Sanitation in New York City has named Dennis Diggins as deputy commissioner for solid waste management.
• The newly created position will oversee the construction and management of four transfer stations and the environmental review, development and implementation of the municipal solid waste programs. Higgins will also develop the Solid Waste Management Plan's long-term waste export facilities and contracts.
• ​He will also continue to manage the operations at the department's land and marine transfer stations while administering sanitation contracts for solid waste disposal and recycling.
