Covanta SEAMASS, L.P., a subsidiary of Covanta, has formed an agreement with Yarmouth, Massachusetts, to act as the town's waste services provider, in addition to operating the Yarmouth Transfer Station.
Beginning on February 1, Covanta will take in approximately 10,000 tons of municipal solid waste to be transported to its waste-to-energy plant.
The sustainable waste management company will also oversee the operations at the Yarmouth Transfer Station.
Covanta will also handle e-waste and recycling for the town, as well as organics, composting medication and bulky waste disposal. The length of the contract is ten years, with an option for an extension if agreed upon by both parties.
