- Diamond Packaging said it diverted 100% of its waste through various recycling and energy recovery solutions.
- Through partnerships with Cascades Recovery, Covanta Sustainable Solutions Group and Advanced Waste Solutions, the company said it was able to adhere to its zero waste goal. The company started a task force that audited manufacturing and recovery methods; it also ensured it utilized end-of-life solutions for all of its waste streams.
- The company’s two manufacturing plants both lowered their respective waste streams, and expanded recycling rates to 98%. The remainder of the waste was transported to Covanta’s WTE facility or was used for fuel blending.

The waste that Diamond Packaging generates stems from manufacturing folding cartons. Recycled materials range in scope from paperboard, metal and plastic to industrial and regulated waste. Construction and demolition waste is not considered part of the waste stream. The company said it has reduced its overall costs associated with the disposal of these materials.
