- House Bill 1183 has passed in Indiana's House of Representatives. The bill requires recycling companies to turn in annual reports to the state. The bill also created a statewide recycling goal of 50% by 2019.
- In 2015, recycling businesses would be required to submit a report detailing its activity to the state department of environmental management. The commissioner of the department will be responsible for summarizing the data collected and passing it along to the environmental quality service council.
- If all goes according to plan, the bill will take effect on July 1, 2014.
