Construction of the new plant began after the previous Rumpke plant experienced damage due to a fire in April of 2012. Jeff Rumpke, vice president of the company, said that he "is proud of this new facility" but is "more proud of our team, and how we all pulled together" after the fire to create a "short-term plan that ensured uninterrupted service for our customers."
