Dive Insight:
The facility is capable of processing 1.4 million appliances per year. Recleim converts household appliances; vending machines; electronics; and heating, ventilating, and air conditioning components into commodities. Plastic, aluminum, copper, steel, and foam is extracted and sold.
The facility, named Hickman Mill, cost $40.6 million and is expected to hire around 200 people by the end of 2015.
Recleim was founded in 2012 and has scored contracts with companies such as Pepsi Bottling Ventures, the South Carolina Association of Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors, and BSH Home Appliances Corporation.
